Hi Ashish,

Thank you for your response.

Equally I had to re-install the Bone to get my slate working my Windows update history is gone.  I did go a list of all updates released on March tenth and uninstalled each one past KB number.  This did not resolve the issue.

Prior to my original post I too removed and reinstalled the sound menu drivers as you described.  This likewise fabricated no difference.

As mentioned in my original post ALL drivers are up to date, this includes the sound menu commuter from the Samsung site.

In response to your suggestion that the sound card or driver may be corrupt, I exercise not agree.  The audio carte du jour works if I enable but on a restart prevents Windows from booting.  My experience is exactly the same at others with the same slate (run across the link in my original postal service).  Further to this after re-installing the OS, which was Windows 8, the sound bill of fare worked.  Its the upgrade to viii.1 that causes the issue.  This is non to say that 8.1 is the problem equally my slate worked with 8.1 until the March Windows updates.

Question - When upgrading to to Windows viii.ane from the Windows shop practise you go an install that comes with all the latest updates?  How can I go a new Windows install back to what information technology would have been prior to March 2015?

Hello Tom,

The reason I am suspecting that it is a sound card or audio driver result is that your system is working in safety manner. In safe fashion sound menu do non piece of work and you also mentioned that your system too works when audio device is disabled.

This clearly indicates that the outcome is with sound carte du jour or drivers.

Equally per description, your arrangement works fine with windows 8. At that place is too a possibility that the drivers for windows eight are not compatible with windows viii.1.

I would suggest y'all to download the sound drivers from manufacturer websites from the link given below:

Refer to the link:

http://www.samsung.com/au/support/model/XE500T1C-A01AU

Once the drivers is downloaded from the manufacturer website. Endeavour to install the driver in compatibility mode with windows viii.

I have likewise had the same problem -- thought it was a hardware outcome on my XE500T1C, so, since I had insurance through my cell carrier, I was able to go a new one.  The same problem occurred on the new one.  Everything worked fine in Windows eight, but equally soon as I upgraded to windows 8.1 I had the same trouble.  This consequence is not well-documented on the Internet and Samsung back up was of Nix assistance, then I had to work through the problem myself.  Finally, after completing a CLEAN install of windows 8.1 (wiping out all the files on the HDD of my tablet), I was upwardly and running, withal with no drivers.  Through trial and error I was able to isolate the problem to the sound driver as Tom mentions in this post.  I tried using the latest version of both the Windows eight and 8.1 drivers and had the aforementioned outcome with both.  The only mode I tin can proceed my tablet upward and running is to disable the sound card until someone somewhen comes upward with a fix to the driver that will play nice with my Windows installation.

Either something in the Windows 8.i update isn't compatible with the sound driver or the sound driver is not compatible with the Windows viii.i update -- but that is absolutely where the problem lies.  This problem DEFINITELY came to light after the March Microsoft Update.  The twenty-four hours before the update I used the tablet all 24-hour interval (I was at a trade show).  The twenty-four hours the problem occurred, I was at the aforementioned merchandise show.   Fearing the battery was nearly dead, I found an outlet and plugged it in, turning it on as I did so.  It immediately did the update and the rest, equally they say, is history... it has been a VERY frustrating few weeks every bit I run a not-for-turn a profit organization almost entirely from my tablet...  I have been mostly out of business now for nigh a month!

To Tom'south question well-nigh whether the Windows eight.1 upgrade in the Microsoft shop contains the update that "breaks" the sound driver, I would have to assume the respond is yes.  Every which way I tried to practice the update via the shop, it did non piece of work.  Not knowing what the problem was, I never thought of going into safe mode and shutting down the sound card... had I done that, I might've been a lot farther ahead, a lot quick.

It would be actually Awesome if Microsoft could come up with a patch that would make this problem become away!!!

Hi Tom,

The reason I am suspecting that it is a sound card or audio driver event is that your system is working in condom manner. In safe mode sound card do not work and yous also mentioned that your organisation also works when audio device is disabled.

This clearly indicates that the issue is with sound menu or drivers.

Howdy Ashish,

Safe mode as you mentioned does disable the sound which will allow my slate to kicking.  The reason is not decadent drivers but the Windows update as others with the same slate accept also constitute.

Before my original mail service I did try the Windows 8 and Windows 8.ane sound carte drivers in a regular and compatability manner install.  I also tried the driver install from device manager using just the .inf file.  All of these methods result in the aforementioned locked upwardly tablet on reboot.

I need to emphasize that audio works later on enabling the I2S sound card in device manager.  This points to the fact it is not a hardware issue...sound does piece of work.  This is a MS update that has caused bug with a driver on this device.

Practise yous think this is something Samsung is better equipped to deal with?

Thanks for your assist so far,

Tom

I confer with the tablet and Win eight.one audio drivers.

don't waste product your time with Samsung I tried to get through. the first was after a custom win 8.1 iso install and getting WLAN Drivers installed. Broadcom drivers were not working and the lady at Samsung said "warranty issue" (even though Win 8.0 works but non 8.ane with no drivers). it was CHIPSET that got that going.

ALSO request anoterh samsung support lady when to await a ne driver, they told me that it is warranty issue. it is Distressing to accept to 'train' their Staff almost hardware failure and driver conflicts. Even sad to see how many sent abroad on warranty 9or spent their ain money) to get it replaced and have same event.

I'm surprised that Samsung has taken so long to get new drivers bachelor.

I left my conversation with the lady last time telling them I'll come back and teach them when I notice a solution.

Where I am at is NO WIN 8.1 sound driver (Back to clark galbe or charlie chaplin silent movies for a scrap) AND have tried a thinkpad tablet driver (using I2S audio codec) was newer version but not working either MAKE RESTORE PINTS ;O) ).

Concluding RESORT for the dark, contact REALTEK and ask for a stock (unbranded/customized to samsung).

IF i hear back, or if i discover a solution in the meantime i'll post respond.

even if realtek has an i2s driver that works till Samsung EVENTUALLY gets effectually to fixing this.

the longer I wait the less i like Samsung every bit a hereafter hardware provider for my side by side device (should accept gone for a suface and so MS hardware runs the MS Software) :)

Hello, I only wanted to mention that I have an XE500T1C-a01ca that is having exactly the aforementioned issues equally noted above.  This began with a windows update equally the others suggested.  Being a 25 twelvemonth Organisation Admin I figured what the heck, wipe the drive and get-go over.  I came to the conclusion that equally long as I don't install the audio commuter the organization will reboot.  I presently take the detail connected to a Bluetooth speaker and that works and if I install the driver for audio, I get audio until the next reboot where it fails and has to recover itself.

Does anyone have any idea how to prepare this?  Samsung was less than Zero Back up.  They don't fifty-fifty know their ain product, after finally getting a part number for a recovery Cd, they sent me a 64 bit version of windows 8.1...Needless to say that was useless.

BTW, for fun I tried the windows 10 install, flawless install until the audio driver consequence again.

Whatever ideas, whatever ane.

Notation:  I did see that there was some pocket-sized conflicts with the I2S and the Intel latest bulldoze as well, tried to roll information technology dorsum and idea I had a solution, merely information technology started to crash again and then not sure...

Cheers..John.
